The portal

Using the portal#

Careers@GFTV is where Global Furry Television lists the roles it is looking for people to fill, and where you apply for them. It lives at careers.globalfurry.tv. This guide covers all of it, from creating an account to getting back in when you have lost your password.

Every role listed today is unpaid#

This is the first thing to know, so it is at the top. Every posting currently on the site is voluntary and unpaid. That includes the senior roles, the staff roles, and the people who built the site. Nobody at GFTV is paid today.

It is called Careers@GFTV because it is where the openings are, not because the openings come with a salary. A posting is labelled by how much time it takes, so one can honestly say Full time and still be a full time volunteer role. If a paid role is ever posted, that posting will say so on itself. That is a fact stored against each posting, and not a sentence somebody has to remember to update.

Reading needs no account, applying needs one#

Every posting is public in full: the description, what you would do, what is needed from you, the commitment, the location, and the closing date. So is the whole job board, filters included. Nothing is blurred out and nothing is held back for members.

An account is needed for two things only: applying to a role, and saving one to come back to.

What you need before you apply#

  • An account, which takes a moment to create. There is no approval queue and no email verification. See Creating an account.
  • Somewhere safe to keep ten recovery codes. This site sends no email at all, so there is no reset link. Those codes are the only way back into your account on your own. See Recovery codes.
  • A connection when you apply, because the application itself is a Google Form that opens in a new tab. See Applying to a role.

You do not need a file, a CV upload, or a photograph. This site accepts no file uploads anywhere, and the only picture it takes is an optional one for your own profile.

Two things about email, said once#

There is no email on this site. Nothing is ever sent to the address you give. It is asked for so that it can be filled into an application form for you, and used as a second way to sign in.

Everything the team needs to tell you appears in your account here, on the Outstanding tasks page. If you would rather be told on Telegram as well, you can link it later, and nothing is ever sent there and nowhere else.

English and 华文#

The whole site exists in both English and Simplified Chinese, postings included. The globe in the header switches, and the choice is remembered in that browser. A posting nobody has translated yet still appears, marked English only. Hiding a real opening from the people a translation exists to serve would be the worse failure.

The documentation site you are reading has its own language control, in its own header. It does not carry over from the portal and cannot: the two are separate sites and a browser keeps that choice per site.

What is in this guide#

  1. Creating an account, and what happens immediately afterwards.
  2. Signing in, including what "stay signed in" and "trust this device" each actually do.
  3. Finding roles: the search box, the filters, and what "Open until filled" means.
  4. Saving roles for later.
  5. Applying to a role, and the question you are asked when you come back.
  6. Applying again to the same role, and the three month wait.
  7. Your applications, and what each status means.
  8. Outstanding tasks, where a request from the team lands.
  9. Account settings: your details, your picture, Telegram, and the danger zone.
  10. Recovery codes: the two sets, and what each one unlocks.
  11. Offline and installing.
  12. Troubleshooting, for when something on the site says something you did not expect.

There is also a guide to the Telegram bot, which is optional and adds notifications, invitations, and a faster way to sign in.

The site was built in phases#

Careers@GFTV was released in phases, in public, and the last one shipped on 12 September 2026. While it was being built, anything not built yet said so on the control itself, instead of failing quietly. The status page now says whether the site is working, and lists anything switched off for the moment.
