Applying again#
Once you have told us you applied for a role, that role is closed to you for three months. Both the posting and the job board show the date it reopens, so you find out by reading and not by clicking.
Why there is a wait at all#
A second application to the same role a week later tells the team nothing new. It also pushes the first one down the list. The wait is there so that applying again is a real signal: something has changed, or the role has come round again.
What starts it#
One thing: answering "Yes, I applied". The wait runs three months from that date.
What does not start it:
- Opening the form and not answering the question. Closing that panel is read as not yet, and only a confirmed application counts.
- A queued answer, given with no connection and not yet sent. It starts when the server confirms it, not when your device saves it.
- Saving the role.
What clears it#
- Withdrawing your application, from My applications. The waiting period is cleared, so you can apply again if you change your mind. The team can see that you withdrew, and when.
- A member of the team waiving it. If you have a genuine reason to apply again sooner, ask. Somebody with access can lift the wait on your application to that role.
What it does not apply to#
- A different role. The wait is per posting, not per person. You can apply to as many different roles as you like, whenever you like.
- A reposted role. A posting that closed and was later put up again is a new posting, so it carries no waiting period at all.
Being accepted is not a wait#
If you have been accepted for a role, the posting says so and never offers a date. Accepting closes that posting to you for good, because you have it.
What withdrawing does not do#
Withdrawing tells the team to stop considering you and clears the wait. It does not delete anything you already sent through the role's application form, which is held by Google and not by us. Ask the team if you need that removed.
