Finding roles#

Every open role is on one page: careers.globalfurry.tv/search, called Find a role. No account is needed for any of it, filters included.

The home page carries a shortcut into the same board: a search box, the latest openings, any featured roles, and the teams with something open.

Find a role. The filter panel sits beside the results on a wide screen and opens from a button on a phone.

Searching#

Type into the search box and the site suggests as you go, in three groups: Roles, Tags, and Teams. Choosing a suggestion goes straight there. Your recent searches are kept in that browser and can be cleared from the same panel.

Search reads the whole posting and not only the title, so a skill mentioned under what you would do is findable. A word in the title counts for most, then the tags and the team, then the summary, then everything else.

note

Chinese search works differently, and it is fairer to say so than to let you wonder. English search understands words and orders results by how well they match. Chinese search matches the characters you type, because the database cannot split Chinese into words. Both find what is there. Only English sorts it by relevance.

If nothing matches, the page says so and offers the closest roles it has, or a tag to start from. It never quietly shows you something else.

Quick filters#

Four chips above the results, for the things people ask for most:

  • Posted today
  • Posted this week
  • Closing soon
  • No deadline

They combine with everything else, and one press clears one.

Filters#

On a wide screen the filter panel sits beside the results. On a phone it is a button that opens over the page, with Show results at the bottom.

FilterWhat it does
TeamThe department a posting belongs to. Every posting belongs to exactly one.
TagsSkills and qualities, such as beginner welcome. Select as many as you like.
Match all selected tagsOff, a role matching any of your tags appears. On, it must carry all of them.
CommitmentFull time, part time, volunteer, contract, or internship.
LocationFree text, matched against the posting's location.
RemoteRemote or on site, remote only, or on site only.
Sort byBest match, newest first, or closing soonest.

The count above the results says how many roles match, and Clear all filters puts it back to everything. When nothing fits every filter, the page says so and suggests removing one, which usually helps more than changing all of them.

About commitment#

Commitment describes how much time a role takes, not what it pays. A posting can say Full time and still be a full time volunteer role. Every role currently listed is unpaid, and each card carries an Unpaid, voluntary badge to say so on its own.

What a card tells you#

  • The title, the team, and the location, with Remote where that applies.
  • The commitment, and the unpaid badge.
  • Up to a few tags, with +3 more where there are others.
  • When it was posted: today, yesterday, a number of days ago, or a date.
  • When it closes, or Open until filled.
  • English only, where a posting has not been translated into the language you are reading in. It is shown anyway, never hidden, with a note at the top of the posting saying you can ask for it to be prioritised.

Open until filled#

It means the posting has no closing date. Applications are read as they arrive and the posting closes when somebody has been found. There is no hidden deadline and nothing expires quietly.

A posting with a date shows it, and one closing within a fortnight is marked Closing soon on the card.

A closed posting stays readable#

When a role closes, its posting stays where it is. It says it is no longer accepting applications, with the date it closed if it had one. Nothing is deleted so that you can still read what you applied for.

An archived posting is a step further. It is off the board entirely, and you can still open it if you applied to it or saved it. It says it is archived and kept as a record and not as an opening.

The posting itself#

A posting page carries everything. About the role, what you would do, what is needed from you and nice to have. The team, the location, the commitment, the openings, the tags and the dates. At the top is Apply for this role, and beside it a Share control that copies the link.

At the foot of every posting is Report a translation problem. If a translation reads wrongly, that link is how the team finds out. Reporting needs an account so somebody can come back to you about it, and a person reads every report before anything changes.
