Account settings#
Your account lives at careers.globalfurry.tv/account. It has an overview and six pages beside it: My applications, Saved roles, Outstanding tasks, Settings, Sign in and security, and Translating. The last of those appears only if you help with translations.
This page covers Settings. Passwords, passkeys, codes and trusted devices are on Sign in and security, and Recovery codes covers the two sets of codes in full.
Your picture#
Optional, and only the team sees it, beside your applications. Choose one and it is cropped to a square, resized, and stripped of location data in your browser before it is sent. Any common image format works, and Remove it takes it away again.
This is the only file the site accepts anywhere. Changing it needs a connection, because the file is sent to us.
Your details#
Four fields:
- Display name, which is what the team sees beside your applications.
- Phone number, optional. Used only if a role's application form asks for one and we can fill it in for you.
- Username
- Email address, which is used to sign in and to prefill an application form. We never send email to it.
Changing your username or your email asks for your current password. Those are how you sign in, and a session on its own is not enough. Changing your display name or your phone number does not.
If the site says somebody is already using that username or email, that is what it means. Both have to be unique.
Telegram#
Linking Telegram gets you notifications, invitations, one tap sign in, and a second step at sign in. Everything sent there is in the portal too, so nothing arrives only in a chat.
To link: press Link Telegram and either scan the QR code with the phone your Telegram is on, or open the link on this device. The code works once and lasts ten minutes. If it expires, nothing has gone wrong; press for a new one.
Once linked, the page shows who it is linked to and when, and offers:
- Send a test message, which should arrive within half a minute.
- Ask for a code from Telegram when I sign in, the two factor switch. The site will not let you turn this on until you have generated your two factor backup codes. Those are the way back in if you ever lose Telegram. Turning it on without them is how an account is lost for good.
- Unlink Telegram.
Turning the switch on or off makes every trusted device answer the second step once more.
Unlinking#
Your account and everything in it stays exactly as it is. Unlinking only stops us sending you anything on Telegram.
- Invitations and updates go to your tasks page here instead, as they always do.
- You can link the same Telegram account again whenever you like.
- The code at sign in turns off, and every trusted device has to answer the second step once more.
The bot guide covers the rest: the commands, the notification kinds, and what unlinking does to two factor.
Translation problems you reported#
If you have reported a translation problem on a posting, the report and what was decided about it appear here. A person reads every one, and each is answered with a note, a rejection included.
The header controls#
Two controls sit in the site header on every page and are not settings on this one:
- Theme and appearance: light, dark, or time based, which follows this device's clock and is light from 9am to 6pm. There is also a colour theme, Classic or Hello.
- Language: English or 华文. The choice is remembered in that browser and applies to postings as well as to the interface.
Neither is stored against your account, so each browser you use has its own.
Danger zone#
Everything in the danger zone is permanent. Each action asks you to confirm three times, and one of those is typing your username out in full. None of them can be undone by us afterwards.
Today it holds one action: Delete my account.
It removes your account, your applications, your saved roles, your ratings, and your picture. You are signed out everywhere immediately, and no code will get you back in. If you come back later it will be a new account with none of this history.
Two things survive it, and the site says both before you confirm:
- The team keeps how many people opened each role, with nothing in it that says it was you.
- Anything you sent through a Google application form is held by Google, not by us, and is not deleted by this. Ask the team if you need those removed.
If your account uses a Telegram code at sign in, the danger zone asks for one. A trusted device does not skip that one.
