Job invitations#

Somebody at GFTV can invite you to apply for a role. It arrives as An invitation on your outstanding tasks page, and in Telegram if you have it linked.

An invitation is an invitation to apply. It is not an offer, and it does not apply for you.

What arrives in the chat#

You have been invited to apply Role: Camera assistant Department: Production

We saw your subtitling work and thought of you for this one.

The note is whatever the person who invited you wrote, shown exactly as they wrote it. Underneath are two buttons: View the role and Decline.

The role name and the department are in the language the posting is stored in. Everything around them is in your language.

Accepting one#

There is no accept button, because accepting is applying. Press View the role, read the posting, and apply the way you would with any other. See Applying to a role.

Nobody is told you have accepted. Your application is what tells them.

Declining one#

Press Decline. The team is told, and the invitation is closed.

What declining does not do:

  • It does not remove the record. The invitation stays on your tasks page, because it is the record that you were invited. That does not stop being true when you say no.
  • It does not stop you applying later. If you change your mind, open the role and apply. The posting does not know or care that you declined.

You can also decline from /invites, and on the tasks page.

When there is nothing to decline#

There is nothing to decline here any more. The invitation may have been withdrawn, or you may have answered it already.

Three things produce that. The team withdrew the invitation, you already answered it, or you applied to the role in the meantime. None of them is a fault.

Seeing what is open#

Send /invites. It lists up to five open invitations, each with a button to the posting, and a button to your tasks page for the rest.

An invitation you have answered is not listed, and neither is one that has been withdrawn. A list of roles nobody is inviting you to any more would be worse than an empty list.

The poster's note is not repeated in that list. It came with the invitation and it is on your tasks page. Five notes stacked in one message is where people stop reading.

Being shortlisted sends you nothing#

The team can also shortlist you, which is private. It marks who they are thinking about and tells you nothing at all.

That is the whole difference between the two. If you have heard nothing, you have not been invited.

If you have not linked Telegram#

Nothing changes about the invitation itself. It is on your tasks page, with the same note and the same link, and the same Decline. Telegram only makes you hear about it sooner.
